The Maruti WagonR has been the most sought-after car of the practicality-oriented Indian customers over the past years. It is small but with plenty of space, affordable but durable, a no nonsense city fighter. However, by 2025, it will be different.
And when we say that, we do not mean a little nips and tucks.
The Right Kind of Design Refresh that Gets Others to Look
First the most noticeable, the new look. Maruti Suzuki has redesigned the boxy look of the WagonR and though the tall-boy lineage still exists, the look is softer, the posture is more assertive and yes, the front grille finally has some character to it.
Elegant LED headlamps, an illusion of a floating roof, two-colored color, and a somewhat descended shoulder line add an urban touch to the car. It is still immediately identifiable-but this time it is really in fashion.
Never supposed!
An interior: Intelligent, Roomy and Unexpectedly Slick
Enter and you will find another thing, elegance. Members-only: cabins No longer is the space of the WagonR 2025, a space to live now it is a smartly planned space.
We’re talking:
New electronic display guage panel
The bigger, floating touchscreen infotainment is (finally) wireless-Android-Auto and -Apple-CarPlay compatible
Improved quality plastics
Designed seats which embrace rather than support
It is not a fancy car right? It is not just utilitarian though. It is a bit aspirational.
Under the Hood: Beloved Engines, More-Intelligent Performance
The engine of the WagonR is the same as before- most of the variants still use the trusted 1.0L and 1.2L petrol motors- but 2025 moves in a more crusading direction, toward efficiency and the incorporation of a hybrid.
It is rumored that a mild-hybrid model will be introduced this year and will be better at achieving city mileage and low emissions. And not only that is good news to your wallet, it is good news to the planet as well.
Oh, and incidentally, there is still CNG versions. Maruti understands its customers.
Safety Receives a much needed Upgrade
The people of Maruti have never been at the top in the aspect of safety- but the wave is going to change with the 2025 WagonR. Look forward to such features as:
Higher trims come with six airbags
Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
Hill hold assist
Vehicle backup sensors and camera
Compliant structure on crash, such as Bharat NCAP norms.
Concisely, it is not only safer but it has also felt like safety was one of the points in the design brief, rather than an addition.
Pricing & Variants: Value reigns the game
Despite all these upgrading, Maruti still knows which side its bread is buttered. The prices will be going very competitive and they will begin only slightly higher than the base model of the earlier generation, but with numerous trim levels namely the LXi, VXi, ZXi and the flagship ZXi+.
It is very much a car that aims at bringing value but fewer compromises than ever before.
Final word: WagonR is up grown up
The WagonR 2025 is not only a facelifted car but a re-introduction. To traditional fans, this is an affirmation as to why the WagonR has been with us this long. Newcomers would have an incentive to actually take it seriously.
Still practical? Absolutely.
Still affordable? Not by any means.
However, today, at last, it is also a car you may want as well as need.
